Our co-founder and dietitian, Robbie Clark contributed to the Cardiometabolic Health podcast series hosted by Bioconcepts. Cardiometabolic conditions are a group of health problems that are interrelated and increase the risk of heart disease, stroke, and metabolic disorders such as type 2 diabetes. These conditions include obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, insulin resistance, and other metabolic abnormalities. The common underlying factors for these conditions are unhealthy lifestyle habits, such as poor diet and lack of physical activity, and genetics. Effective management of cardiometabolic conditions involves a combination of lifestyle changes and medical treatment.

In this episode, Robbie discuses the health implications of insulin resistance and the best approach for treatment and management. Insulin resistance is a condition in which cells in the body become less responsive to the effects of insulin, a hormone produced by the pancreas that regulates blood sugar levels. As a result, the pancreas has to produce more insulin to maintain normal blood sugar levels, leading to an increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes and other related health problems.
